The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is sharing a look around a new spot for weekend getaways, both inside and out.

The new 81-room Hocking Hills State Park Lodge & Conference Center opens on Saturday, October 8, 2022.

Less than a five-hour drive from Youngstown and about one hour southeast of Columbus, the lodge is located near some of Ohio’s most popular trails and breathtaking scenery.

Sitting on a sandstone outcrop surrounded by the region’s iconic forested hills and gorges. unique touches include a custom-designed water feature, cozy hang-out nooks, and local artwork, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Two large stone fireplaces anchor the lobby while a mezzanine sky bridge gives awesome views from a floor-to-ceiling window.

Looking toward the gorge, the landscape is further enhanced by a stainless-steel sculpture and a wood-beamed pergola.

Room designs include king, double queen, king bunk, and queen bunk rooms; many of the rooms have patios or balconies.

Each room offers a full bath with a shower, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, high-definition TV, and other traditional hotel amenities.

Additionally, four two-room suites will be available and offer a separate living area with a pull-out sofa and kitchenette. The lodge also offers several accessible king and double queen rooms.

The lodge offers a large public lobby with oversized fireplaces, event space for over 200, a dining room and lounge, a grab-and-go café, a fitness center, a gift shop, and indoor and outdoor pool complexes, both featuring all-season hot tubs.

Under construction since 2020, the architecture incorporates the surrounding woods and natural landscape into its rustic design.
