YSU looks for interim president ahead of Tressel's departure

YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown State University is looking for a temporarily replacement to University President Jim Tressel.
The YSU Board of Trustees is holding a special meeting Monday, October 5 at 5 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room, first floor, Tod Hall.
The Board will discuss the appointment of an Interim President, along with other matters.
Tressel announce in June, 2022 that he will be stepping down as Youngstown State University President.
He originally announced his departure from the University in an email that was sent out to all students and faculty.
"Ellen and I plan to step aside as President and First Lady of our beloved YSU, effective February 1, 2023," the email said.
Tressel became YSU’s 9th president in 2014.
Prior to becoming president, he served as Executive Vice President for Student Success at the University of Akron.
Tressel also coached the YSU Penguins football team from 1986 until 2000, before taking over as head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
