The LaBrae school district has its new baseball & softball coaches.

Ed Anthony will lead the baseball team and Dwayne Buck the softball team.

Anthony, a former LaBrae High school assistant varsity coach from 2004-2008, comes from Western Reserve, where he served as varsity head coach from 2010-2021 and assistant varsity coach from 2008-2010.

A seasoned head coach, he has an overall record of 193-69 in 12 years at Western Reserve, with six conference championships; seven district championships; two regional championships; one state final in 2014; and one state runner-up in 2015.

Buck has more than 16 years of experience coaching girls softball at an elite level.

Most recently, Buck led the Valley Extreme Travel Team as head softball coach from 2015- 2021; Chain Reaction Travel Team from 2010-2014; and Valley Sting Travel Team from 2005-2007. Buck’s coaching start was in the LaBrae youth leagues in 2005, where he coached several of our athletes who were part of LaBrae’s back-to-back OHSAA Regional appearances in 2013 & 2014.

Buck earned two state championships with Chain Reaction and three consecutive national championships with Valley Extreme. His team held a 3-year record of 210-44-1 while playing up in age most of the time.
