PITTSBURGH - A restaurant chain famous for serving huge sandwiches loaded with cole slaw and French fries hopes to become known for something poured from a tap.

Beginning Wednesday, Primanti Brothers will begin pouring its own craft beer at restaurants in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Primanti Brothers and Slippery Rock-based North Country Brewing have partnered to produce its first ever, unique-to-Primanti's, beer - Almost Famous Red Ale.

Brewed with specially roasted malts, the ale creates a light and drinkable flavor that finishes with a sweet, yet subtle, caramel note, according to Primanti Brothers.

"The clean malt finish really shines through," said Jon Barnes, head brewer, North Country."We felt it was time to release our ideal beer - one that pairs perfectly with our sandwiches and allows us to offer a great value to everyone in the restaurant," said Adam Golomb, President, Primanti Bros.

Almost Famous Red Ale will be available in Primanti Bros.'  23oz. pours for $2.50 during Happy Hour.

The new beer is also part of a combo - paired with Primanti Bros.' Pitts-burger - for $9.99 during all hockey games.

Here in the Valley, Primanti Bros. has locations in Boardman and Niles.
