PA State Police: No fatal crashes over New Year's holiday period

Pennsylvania State Police have released crash and enforcement results from the New Year's holiday period.
According to the release, there were no fatalities between December 30, 2022, and January 1, 2023.
Over the three-day period, 481 crashes were reported resulting in 108 injuries. Alcohol was a factor in 51 of them.
State Police made 356 DUI arrests and cited 4,126 people for speeding during the holiday weekend. Another 7,874 citations were given to drivers throughout the state.
There were 10 more crashes during this period, DUI arrests jumped from 278 to 356 (+78) and speeding citations were up by nearly 500 over last year.
According to Pennsylvania State Police data, the region covering Mercer and Lawrence counties saw 16 crashes and two injuries during that time. Two of those crashes were alcohol-related.
The region had 28 DUI arrests, 149 speeding citations, three child seat citations, 16 seatbelt violations, and 282 other citations over the three-day period.
