Local experts report high demand for leisure trips

According to travel experts escaping to warmer destinations is a top priority for many people in Mahoning Valley.
Executive Tour and Travel consultant, Kathy Pahanish said there has been a 68% increase in people looking to travel compared to last year. This is the biggest increase she has seen in her 25 years in Business. One reason for the uptick comes from a desire to visit and experience new places.
In addition, saving money and no longer facing pandemic shut downs fueled the rise in traveling.
"They want to get out of here, they want experiences," Pahanish said.
Warmer locations like Florida, Las Vegas and Aruba tops the vacation destination list.
For Akron-Canton Airport, their low ticket prices and non-stop flights are motivating factors. The airports president and CEO, Ren Camacho said travelers can find air fares as low as $33.
"You'll see statistics across the country not just Northeast Ohio, where airports across the country have exceeded their pre-pandemic number because folks have just wanted to get away that much faster," Camacho said.
While making travel arrangements can be a grueling process, experts advise booking at least one month before your departure date, being mindful of the airline's weight limit for luggage, using price alert apps and hiring a travel agent to reduce travel interruptions.
