YOUNGSTOWN -  Two traffic accidents that happened around the same time temporarily shut down two roadways in Youngstown early Monday.

Police and a rescue squad were called to what was reported as an injury accident along the southbound lanes of Interstate 680 near the Glenwood Avenue interchange shortly before 3 a.m.

21 News found a van heading the wrong direction on the interstate and a car being towed from the scene.

There’s no word from police on the extent of injuries.

Southbound 680 was temporarily shut down for a time.

 Shortly after that crash, a single car crash shut down eastbound Mahoning Avenue just west of the WRTA garage.

A car’s airbags were deployed when it crashed into a utility police.

An ambulance was sent to check out the driver’s injuries, which are not believed to be serious.
