Youngstown City Council chambers temporarily closed to public due to fire escape issue
Youngstown City Council meetings will be closed to the public until further notice due to public safety concerns with the building's fire escape.
According to a press release, this restriction was put in place in an effort to abide by the mandate of city administrators limiting room capacity and to comply with the Ohio Open Meetings Act.
Council meetings will still be conducted in person for council members and city employees only in the Caucus Room in Youngstown City Hall.
Youngstown residents will not be able to attend these meetings in person, but may still attend them virtually on the City of Youngstown's website.
Residents wishing to make a public comment while virtually attending a meeting can click on the Government tab, followed by the City Council tab and Forms and Documents tab.
From there, residents can complete and submit the "Request to Speak" form. Alternatively, residents can contact Mastern Municipal Clerk, Valencia Marrow at 330-742-8700.
