SHARON, Pa. - A fire inspector has reported finding over 60 code violations at Sharon Towers apartments during a Tuesday afternoon press conference.

These numerous violations range from inoperable fire doors and almost 50 different places that were lacking necessary smoke detector systems. For the smoke detector systems that were found only one or two of them actually worked.

Additionally, the boiler regulator had been leaking gas into the building for almost a whole month, stairwells were filled with bird feces and drywall was coming off of the walls and ceilings.

"I have the expectation rapidly that the decision will be made that the property is not safe, not sanitary and is unfit for any human to live in it," said Sharon City Manager, Bob Fiscus.

A total vacate of the building could be coming in the near future. Currently, the city is working with Urban League to house people in local hotels and the church next door. 25 apartments are currently staying in local hotels.

An arrest warrant was recently issued for building owner, Joseph Fusco, but officials say he is no longer associated with the property.
