Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a house fire in Boardman that sent a firefighter to the hospital.

Crews from Boardman and Canfield were called to a home in the 4000 of Bob-O-Link Drive just after 11 o'clock Tuesday night.

A fire that started in the garage spread to the attic, leaving the rest of the home with smoke damage.

The family living there escaped unharmed, but a firefighter rolled his ankle, possibly breaking it. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Youngstown around midnight.

Fire officials say the family was forced to stay elsewhere for the night.

The blaze rekindled in a bedroom shortly before 3 a.m. as workers were on the scene to board up the home.
