EAST PALESTINE, Ohio - Excavation at the Pleasant Drive northern track crossing in East Palestine is expected to be completed this week.
In the meantime, EPA officials and Norfolk Southern are continuing to conduct air monitoring in the work zone as well as the surrounding community.
Vapor suppressants are being used to control odors around the work area and perimeter air monitoring stations are located around the work zone.
While the cleanup is ongoing the EPA is reviewing work plans for further assessment and cleanup that will ensure community safety in the years to come.
