New charges leveled against inmate serving life sentence for raping Trumbull County children
A Garrettsville man already serving two consecutive life sentences without parole for raping three children in Trumbull County is now accused of raping two other children in Portage County.
An indictment handed up earlier this month by a Portage County Grand Jury alleges that in 2020, 35-year-old Edward Wymer repeatedly raped two girls who were 8 years old and 11 years old at the time.
Wymer is facing six counts of rape and six counts of gross sexual imposition. The indictment includes sexual violent predator specifications for each of the 12 felonies, which could mean a longer sentence if Wymer is convicted.
In March of last year, a judge in Trumbull County sentenced Wymer to two consecutive life sentences plus 33 years additional for raping three children, ages 8, 11, and 12 over a two-year span in Trumbull County.
The court has ordered that Wymer be brought to the county court in Ravenna on August 21st for arraignment on the latest charges.
