Power out after transformer fire, line down in Poland

As many as 500 are without power Saturday afternoon after a transformer blew in front of the Refresh Dental on McKinley Way Rt. 224 in Poland.
Crews were initially dispatched around noon Saturday for a downed power line. When Poland Fire arrived on scene, they reported the downed high-tension power line and blown transformer, as well as a small fire.
It is suspected the transformer damage resulted from strong storms passing through the area this afternoon.
According to Ohio Edison's outage map, an estimated 101-500 people may be facing outages in the area around Audubon Rd, Ohio Ave, College Ln, and Cover Drive near Poland Middle School and United Methodist Church.
As of 3:50pm Saturday, an additional Ohio Edison crew was requested to the scene. Ohio Edison currently estimates power will come back on around 5:30 Saturday afternoon, pushed back from an earlier estimate of 3:30pm.
