Mespo's End of the Commons General Store offers old-time mining experience

MESOPOTAMIA TWP., Ohio - If you’re looking for a backyard getaway, there’s a Valley destination that takes families back in time including an experience like that of an old-time prospector.
In addition to the fried pies and shopping, the End of the Commons General Store in the heart of Mesopotamia Township offers the Two Rivers Mining Company.
The exhibit recreates a mining sluice that uses running water to wash away dirt to reveal treasure.
Families can purchase a bag of dirt at the General Store, then walk out to the sluice and use a panning box to sort through the dirt to reveal hidden gems of arrowheads.
Serving the community since 1840, operators of the End of The Commons General Store say the shelves are lined with old-fashioned quality products that our grandparents used, bringing memories of times gone by.
People are invited to browse the store and relax on a front porch rocker while enjoying hand-dipped ice cream cones.
You’ll find The End of the Commons General Store at 8719 State Route 534, in Mesopotamia.
