Police plead for end to violence after 21-year-old man fatally shot on Youngstown's South Side

YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man as a homicide.
The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was fatally shot and found by family members at a home on the corner of Summer Street and Earle Avenue on the city's South Side.
Officers were called to the scene shortly after 7 p.m. Monday night.
Caution tape was set up around the home and street.
In a release from Youngstown Police Captain Jason Simon, he asks for cooperation from the community to help stop violence in the area.
The statement reads:
"We continue to ask for public cooperation and support in our fight against violent crime. We are steadfast in our declaration that
the violence must stop and we know our community is behind that message. The public has been an amazing partner and YPD
appreciates the information that is given to us when these tragic and senseless incidents happen, which further solidifies the
collaboration between our officers and those we serve. "
The YPD Detective Division, Crime Scene Unit, and Mahoning County Coroner's Office are actively investigating
this homicide.
