After some shuffling in the Nile's city government, a vacancy in Nile's city council has been filled.

Todd Weddell has been appointed to the vacant Niles 1st ward city council seat. He was appointed during a meeting of the Democratic Party Niles 1st Ward Committee meeting held Tuesday Sept. 12.

Weddell replaces Doug Sollitto, who was appointed to the at large Niles city council seat.

That seat was left vacant after Stephen Papalas resigned.

Weddell will serve the remainder of the term, which is up at the end of the year.  He is also a candidate for the council seat he now occupies.

Voters will get a chance to decide the ultimate fate of the seat in the November elections.
