A North Lima man has been charged after investigators say a trailer his truck was hauling ran over a deputy directing traffic at Blossom Music Center.

Fifty-three-year-old Bernard Spurio was arraigned Wednesday on charges of negligent assault and failing to stop at a stop sign.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Department, Spurio was driving a pickup truck pulling a trailer as Deputy Arvin Clar was directing traffic outside the Jason Aldean concert on July 20.

The report says Spurio failed to stop at the four-way stop intersection, and the truck’s trailer tires ran over Deputy Clar, critically injuring him.

Deputy Clar was taken to Akron City Hospital for treatment.

Spurio is scheduled to appear in court again in November.

21 News is working to learn Deputy Clar's current condition.
