1998: John Russo, professor of management and labor at Youngstown State University, says striking workers at RMI Titanium Co. in Niles gave up much during the company's lean years and are now looking to make up lost ground while the company is thriving.
Youngstown State University, which showed decreasing enrollment for seven years, sees a modest turn-around with an increase of 207 students to an enrollment of 12,533.
U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr. says any impeachment of President Bill Clinton should be limited to issues surrounding the president's relationship with Monica Lewinsky, not the broad-ranging inquiry favored by Republicans that could go back to before Clinton was president.

1973: The Youngstown Area United Appeal, Community Chest, and Red Cross opened their 1973-74 campaign to raise $1.9 million for 31 agencies.
Two veteran Youngstown police officers are suspended without pay for 14 days for labeling a man who was brought in as drunk and disorderly and putting him in a cell. He died of multiple gunshot wounds.
