High school basketball in Ohio "could" have move divisions in the future.

Ohio High School Athletic Association spokesperson Tim Stried tells 21 Sports, "there have been some discussions about expanding the number of divisions in several sports, but there haven't been any decisions."

What those sports are isn't known, but a prominent basketball coach told us that basketball is one of them.

Currently there are four divisions in both boys and girls basketball. Recent numbers show 795 schools play basketball and 706 football in the state.

Football has seven divisions with roughly 100 schools in each division.

At this time, each division for basketball has close to 200 schools.
