SHARON, Pa. -  The Sharon Historical Society is inviting the public to step into the past this month as the historic Wallis Mansion opens its doors later this month.

The Society is offering a behind-the-scenes, sneak-peek tour of the recently acquired home at 290 East State Street.

Located across from the Buhl Club, the two-story home influenced by several styles of the eras was built around 1900 by contractor William Wallis.

The price for the self-guided tours being offered on the Saturday after Thanksgiving is $10 at the door.

Planned to become the Society’s Wallis Mansion History Center, the tours will give the community a chance to see the progress being made on the mansion’s restoration and rebirth.

A special souvenir handout with a brief history of the house and its future will be provided to participants. The Sharon Historical Society’s new gift shop will be open during the open house event with memberships, and publications for purchase.

Also on sale will be a detailed, hand-cast, one-of-a-kind holiday ornament depicting the Wallis Mansion, hand-painted by Hestia's artisans. The purchase directly benefits the renovation efforts of the mansion.

The Society is letting participants know that the tour may involve walking on a steep grade and rolling, uneven terrain and those taking part should wear appropriate shoes and attire for the weather.

Enter the rear kitchen entrance of the mansion, at 290 East State Street, Sharon, PA 16146 on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

Parking can be found in the lot at the Wallis mansion, off Grace Place, at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, street-parking along Pine Street, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, and the Buhl Club.
