Across the country folks are encouraged to think big by shopping small.
 
Local businesses not only employ most of the people in America, but they also support local sports teams and events.
 
On Small business Saturday folks are encouraged to enjoy the joys of shopping small.
 
In Sharon it's a tradition for many, including Madison Hall who was shopping with her sister and niece. 
 
"We're out here just supporting small businesses. We got these candles that smell like Fruit Loops from Just Makes Sense. We stopped at the Thrift Store up the road, they had a lot of cool vintage things. And we went to the Cooking Store. Everybody's had a lot of good deals so far," Madison Hall said.
 
 
"There are lots of communities around here that survive on this, and we need to get away from the internet a little bit maybe, and back into the stores and help the people out that we live amongst," said Tracy Morgenstern.
 
In Sharon Small Business Saturday consists of a day full of events!
 
"We have our Christmas tree lighting and Santa arriving on a firetruck at 5:00 p.m., with our Magic of Christmas Fireworks. Afterwards just events and sales, and we have Bundy the Elf running around some of the shops, so it's been really fun," Director of Downtown Development for Sharon, Sherris Moreira said.
 
 
A local attorney Mergal Law and his family were in the Small Business Saturday and Christmas spirit, providing free hot chocolate, candy, and hot dogs.
 
At Baroni Productions Brandon Baroni invited families inside to take a picture and capture a keepsake memory with the Grinch for ten dollars.
 
At Studio 83 there is handmade and handpainted pottery along with one of a kind items for sale. 
 
At the Army Navy Center inside there's a Christmas shop with dozens of vendors inside. 
Some with cutting boards, jewelry, or handmade or hand kintted items to make someone happy this holiday season. 
 
The owner of Wandering Soul Books, Gifts, and Furniture is celebrating one year in business here, sharing  space with several other busineses, and artists as well. 
 
It's our community who we're here for coming out, and saying hi, and supporting us on this beautiful day. We rely on a lot of this day in particular, Owner of Wandering Soul Books, Gifts, and Furniture Dani Johnson said.
 
When you support local you money stays local and helps small businesses support your local sports teams and events.
