Valley communities receive over $172,000 in Justice Assistance Grants

Mahoning Valley - Multiple communities in all three Mahoning Valley counties will be receiving a total of $172,000 in funding from Justice Assistance Grants.
According to a press release, this is part of over $5 million in federal Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants awarded to help these communities prevent and control crime.
The funds may be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, strategic planning, research and evaluation, data collection, training, personnel, equipment, forensics laboratories, supplies, contractual support and criminal justice information systems.

COLUMBIANA COUNTY:
- Columbiana County Commissioner's Office ($19,462.74)
- City of East Palestine ($17,613)
- City of Columbiana ($29,643)
- St. Clair Township ($10,000)
MAHONING COUNTY:
- Mahoning County ($11,500)
- Jackson Township Trustees ($5,963)
- Milton Township ($7,204.86)
- Austintown ($19,476.69)
TRUMBULL COUNTY:
- Trumbull County ($11,959.29)
- Champion Township ($26,804.25)
- City of Cortland ($12,672.75)
In total, 153 projects were funded in 56 counties.
