WARREN, Ohio - A Girard man has pled guilty in court on Thursday to smashing the windows of the Trumbull County Courthouse causing thousands of dollars worth of damages.

According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, 37-year-old Christopher Gembicki pled guilty to a fifth-degree count of vandalism in court on Thursday.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred in October of 2023 when Gembicki showed up at the Trumbull County Courthouse and broke four first floor windows on the building.

Surveillance video shows Gembicki throwing a rock into a double-paned window multiple times. A similar incident involving a different suspect occurred in November of 2021.

As part of a plea deal, Gembicki would have to submit to a payment plan to cover the cost of damages to the courthouse. He must pay $3,490 in damages.

Gembicki will be sentenced after going through a background investigation conducted by probation officers. He could face between six months to one year in prison.
