YOUNGSTOWN - The Mahoning County Grand Jury has found enough evidence to put a 21-year-old man on trial for a fatal shooting on the city’s Southside.

Vashaud May was indicted Thursday on charges of aggravated murder, murder, and three counts of attempted murder.

May is accused of killing 24-year-old Rawsheem Aponte in April of 2022. Police say May chased Aponte while driving in the 3800 Block of Mohawk Avenue. Dozens of rounds were allegedly fired killing Aponte, as well as wounding two others including a toddler.

U.S. Marshalls arrested May late last year in New Hope, Minnesota.

May remains held in the Mahoning County Jail on a $1 million bond.
