Toyota issues 'do not drive' advisory for 50,000 vehicles due to airbag danger

Drivers with older car models between 2003 and 2005 are being advised not to drive their vehicles until an inspection and repair can be done to their car.
Toyota has issued a Do Not Drive advisory for owners of the 2003-04 Corolla, 2003-04 Corolla Matrix and 2004-05 RAV4 vehicles due to the use of airbags that have been recently recalled.
These airbags are under an urgent safety recall. Because of the vehicle's age, if the airbag deploys, a part inside of it is more than likely to explode and shoot sharp metal fragments at the vehicle occupant.
This can lead to serious injury or death, according to a news release from Toyota.
Owners are being urged not to drive these vehicles until a free inspection and safety repair recall can be done on the vehicle.
