Pennsylvania State Police looking for new ways to attract recruits

Pennsylvania - The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) is launching a new advertising campaign with the goal of recruiting people to a career as a state trooper.
These ads will be presented in various media channels, with a television commercial set to debut during the NHL game between the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins Sunday, February 25 at 3:30 p.m.
Other forms of advertising will include billboard ads, ads on streaming services, radio ads, and social media ads.
Last year, the PSP saw a 258% increase in applications after Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro removed the college requirement for applicants.
All PSP applicants must:
- Pass a written examination.
- Pass a background check.
- Pass a physical readiness test.
- Undergo medical screening.
- Undergo psychological screening.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Have a valid driver's license from any state, and
- Be at least 20 years old at the time of application.
All applicants must be at least 21 years old and cannot have reached the age of 40 upon entry into the academy. Applicants must be a Pennsylvania resident and possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license at the time of graduation.
The current application cycle opened on February 12.
