A woman told Youngstown police she had to duck for cover when her Southside home and car were riddled with gunfire early Monday.

According to a police report, the woman told officers she was sitting on the couch in her Brentwood Avenue home when bullets began coming through the window before 5 a.m.

The woman said she hit the ground for cover.

A man in bed told police the sound of shots awakened him.

Officers found bullet holes in the front window and inside walls.  Police, who collected a dozen shell casings outside of the home, also say the couple’s SUV had been shot up.

Both residents, who say they didn’t hear a car outside, told police they don’t have any idea who would have fired the shots.
