Warren non-profit helps three clean energy companies snag $44M in funding

Three clean energy companies based in Ohio are getting nearly $44 million in government funding, thanks in part to help from a non-profit organization headquartered in Warren.
Power to Hydrogen and pH Matter, both of Columbus, and Nexceris of London, Ohio compiled their funding applications using startup programs and expertise offered by Brite Energy Innovators, a locally based non-profit launched in 2010 to accelerate energy technology and economic development in Northeast Ohio.
The three Brite member companies have been awarded funding through the U.S. Department of Energy to support the US National Clean Hydrogen Strategy.
The funding for the three companies is included in the U.S. Department of Energy’s recently announced $750 million awarded to 52 projects across 24 states to dramatically reduce the cost of producing clean hydrogen.
The projects are designed to advance electrolysis technologies and improve manufacturing and recycling capabilities for clean hydrogen systems and components.
Electrolysis is the process of using electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen.
According to a news release, since its inception, Brite says it has helped more than 600 companies across Ohio create more than 2,100 jobs and secure third-party investments of more than $250 million.
