A Boardman woman accused of pepper spraying a store employee while stealing merchandise in Boardman back in January has been arrested on a warrant.

According to a police report, police were dispatched to a Family Dollar store on Market Street just before 9:00 p.m. on January 22 in reference to an employee being pepper sprayed and two females stealing merchandise from the store.

Upon arrival, police spoke to the store's assistant manager who told officers he was pepper sprayed when he attempted to stop a woman with a laundry basket full of stolen merchandise.

Police say the victim's eyes appeared to be swollen.

The assistant manager told police two women identified as Brittany Thomas and Ariel Daniel came into the store together. He alleged that Thomas tried to leave with a clear tote bag full of unpaid merchandise.

Police say when Thomas was confronted, she told the assistant manager that she was "f****d up" before continuing on her way with Daniel exiting through the emergency exit with a laundry basket full of unpaid items.

According to the report, when the assistant manager tried to take the basket away from Daniel, she pepper sprayed him and fled leaving the basket and merchandise behind.

Police were able to recover the merchandise inside the basket and return it to the store. The items were valued just over $100.

Warrants were issued for both suspects with Thomas getting arrested on February 1 and was charged with four counts of theft. She was indicted on February 29 and arraigned in the common pleas court March 12.

She's due back in court March 27 and a jury trial is scheduled for April 15.

Meanwhile, Daniel was arrested on a warrant on March 22 and is currently in the Mahoning County Jail. She's facing one count of robbery and two counts of theft.
