Suspect in arson that killed Warren teen rejects plea deal, jury trial set for June

WARREN, Ohio - A suspect in a deadly arson in Warren that claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl has rejected a plea deal to charges against him.
Thirty-year-old Brendan Daviduk (pictured below) rejected a plea deal on charges of aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder, aggravated arson, attempted aggravated arson and tampering with evidence stemming from the deadly arson back in January 2023 that killed 16-year-old Chassidy Broadstone.

Had Daviduk accepted the plea deal, he could have received a sentence of life in prison with a chance of parole after 32 years. Since he didn't accept this offer, he will appear back in court June 17 for a jury trial.
If a Jury finds Daviduk guilty of his charges, he could be sentenced to death.
So far, the only suspect to plead in this case was 24-year-old Zackary Gurd, who investigators say was the one who brought the can of gasoline that started the deadly blaze to the scene of the crime.
As a result of his plea deal, Gurd is no longer eligible for the death penalty, but could still face life in prison with a chance of parole after 40 to 60 years. A sentencing date for Gurd has not been scheduled yet.
Another suspect, Patricia Zarlingo, was supposed to have her jury trial begin April 1, but this was delayed due to attorneys needing more time to obtain and review court documents pertaining to her.
Zarlingo's trial is now scheduled to begin July 23.
