A young child was found unresponsive in a pond in Girard on Thursday.

According to Girard Police Dispatch, the 21-month-old child was found at 9:20 am in a body of water in the 300 block of East Wilson Avenue.

Girard police officer Jonathan Silverman, who arrived on the scene, performed live-saving efforts on the child.

According to dispatch, the officer was able to revive the child. 

According to the police report, Officer Silverman saw water coming out of the child's mouth and began performing chest compressions on the child. Girard Fire and EMS arrived and took over life-saving efforts.

The report said the parents were both there, and the father noticed he had seen or heard the child in a few minutes and went to check on him. 

The father found the child had gotten out of home and found the child in a neighbor's small pond. The father pulled the unresponsive child from the water and called 911.
