Lisbon water disruption planned Thursday morning

LISBON, Ohio - Some homeowners and businesses in Lisbon may not have running water on Thursday morning.
Mayor Peter Wilson has announced that before construction work on the new Grant Street Bridge can begin, existing utility lines need to be moved or replaced.
On Thursday, June 13, a new temporary water line will be put in place temporarily disrupting water service between 2am to 12 pm to allow for the installation of a new connection to the system.
A boil order will be in place starting at the time the work begins.
Unless residents have an alternate source such as bottled water, they’re being asked to boil water before using it until they’re notified that the boil alert is lifted.
Once the water service has been restored, flush water from all the taps used for drinking and cooking for at least 3 minutes. Water should be brought to a rolling boil and boiled for at least one minute before drinking.
Water samples will be collected and analyzed to confirm good water quality.
The project may also cause additional disruptions in water quality including discolored water and potentially a temporary increase in lead levels in the drinking water.
As a standard practice, the USEPA recommends the following actions to reduce possible lead exposure in drinking water:
- If water has not been used for several hours, run the tap until there is a noticeable temperature drop. Then, run water for 30 seconds to 3 minutes before using it for drinking and cooking. This helps flush water that may have contained lead that may have leached from plumbing.
- Use cold water for cooking, drinking, and preparing baby formula. Boiling the water will not reduce lead.
- Clean your faucet aerator regularly.
Mayor Wilson says that when utility work is completed, bridge construction can begin.
