YOUNGSTOWN - Members of the "Save the Deer of Mill Creek Park" group were back in court Wednesday morning - this time hoping to remove the MetroPark's Board of Commissioners and executive director.

21 News previously reported on the group's filing for removal, which included allegations that the board did not fulfill their duties in the best interest of the parks.

"The transparency and efficiency to support the park for the community is really not there," group member Janet Bernard noted.

Visiting Judge John Campbell of Carroll County heard similar remarks from a handful of the group's members during the morning session, which lasted over two hours.

"Our comments fell on deaf ears. there was no discussion of our comments, and the tension at the board meetings escalated," group member Chris Flak said to the judge.

The Metroparks Commissioners were questioned individually in order to address those concerns brought up about their policies and decision-making. They once again denied the allegations brought forward by the group, claiming they research issues independently before meetings, and reach out to experts when needed.

"Mr. Young has been one of the greatest things that's happened to our park," commissioner Thomas Frost said. He has not only the intelligence but the wherewithal to make tough decisions."

Lawyers on each side are expected to file written closing arguments within ten days, which the judge will consider before making a decision.
