YOUNGSTOWN - A newly paved street in downtown Youngstown that merges into one lane, is raising concerns. Not because of the roadwork, but because drivers are ignoring traffic signs.

21 News noticed these repeated actions could create potential problems, so we investigated the matter and brought it to the city's attention.

Many cars driving along West Front Street are ignoring the freshly painted, clearly marked turning lane.

The new road markings now shift the vehicles heading straight after Boardman Street slightly to the left, raising the risk of a potential crash.

Some drivers in the left turning lane were seen following the directional indicators, and making the turn on West Boardman Street, but others were either straddling the lane or continuing straight without using blinker to signal to other drivers that they are continuing straight.

With drivers not paying attention to marked roads and street signs, it is only a matter of time before an accident could happen.

Chuck Shasho Youngstown's public works director, says the city will look into upgrading the street with more arrows and lane signage if needed.
