Some medical services may be stopped at Trumbull Regional under new managers

WARREN, Ohio - Insight Health Systems began assessing Trumbull Regional Medical Center and Hillside Hospital in Warren on Thursday.
Insight has fully taken over as temporary manager-operators of the facilities. Assessing the poor conditions left by former operators, Steward Healthcare, could take several weeks.
During that time, Trumbull’s emergency department and other critical services will remain open. However, Insight said that some medical services lines may have to be “temporarily suspended until patient safety can be fully validated.”
Insight could not tell 21 News what services could be stopped.
In a press release, Insight stated some patients will have to be transferred to Mercy Health’s St. Joseph's Hospital, which is also located in Warren, “where necessary”. Insight could not tell 21 News what kinds of patients are being transferred.
Insight does plan to purchase both hospitals and turn them into non-profits in the next few months. Insight will have to bid against other prospective buyers to Medical Properties Trust who ultimately decide who the new owners will be.
Representatives of the new managers said all patients should keep their appointments, staff should continue to show up to their shifts and anyone in need of care will receive it.
