MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - The Mahoning County OVI Task Force has revealed the location and time of an OVI checkpoint in Mahoning County on Friday, September 27.

The checkpoint will be conducted from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. on North Canfield-Niles Road in Austintown near Ashley Circle. 

This checkpoint will be accompanied by saturation patrols throughout the county with the goal of intercepting impaired drivers on the road.

A 1990 Supreme Court ruling said holding sobriety checkpoints without first notifying drivers would violate the Constitution's provision barring illegal search and seizure.

The ruling did not spell out what was considered an adequate notification.
