Suspended Akron cop from Trumbull County pleads guilty in child porn case

A 34-year-old Mineral Ridge man and suspended Akron police officer entered a guilty plea Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to three counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, three counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, one count of gross sexual imposition and one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor.
Police told 21 News Parker took a nude photo of a four-year-old girl in Weathersfield Township in Trumbull County and sent it to an online chatroom app in August. From there, the image was sent to BCI, who was able to trace it back to Parker. Parker was arrested at the Akron Police Department two days later.
Parker was also convicted of taking nude images of himself with young children.
Assistant Prosecutor Gabriel Wildman says Parker faces a maximum of 61 to 65 years in prison. The defendant remains in Trumbull County jail on a $1 million bond.
Geoffrey Parker will be sentenced on November 26 in Judge Ronald J. Rice's court after he undergoes a background investigation.
At the time of his sentencing, Parker will also declared a Tier 2 sexual offender. A jury trial was scheduled to begin on Nov. 12.
