No charges against driver who struck and killed local musician in Boardman
There will be no charges filed against the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a local musician in July.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Richard Weimer was driving southbound on Market Street in Boardman on July 26. Sean Baran, 35, was walking along on East Fairlawn Avenue.
OSHP tells 21 News that Baran unintentionally stepped into the roadway as Weimer's Volkswagon drove by, and was hit by the vehicle. Baran was pronounced dead on scene.
Baran was a renowned musician in the Valley. After earning his bachelor and masters degrees from YSU's Dana School of Music, Baran began teaching piano and organ. He was the organist at Trinity United Methodist Church in Youngstown, and also taught piano at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Midland, Pennsylvania.
