Space heater blamed in fire at Sharon home that injured 9-year-old

Sharon's fire chief has provided updates on the cause of a fire that left a young boy injured early Monday morning.
Fire Chief Bob Fiscus told 21 News the fire was ruled to be accidental and that a space heater was a contributing factor to the fire.
A caller told 911 dispatchers that a relative's hands, arms, and face were burned following an explosion in a house on Euclid Avenue at 12:41 a.m.
First Responders say the victim was conscious and breathing when a medical helicopter flew him to a hospital for treatment. Chief Fiscus did not know of the boy's condition as of Wednesday morning.
The explosion also caused a small fire in the home, which firefighters from Sharon and Farrell put out.
Chief Fiscus said the fire was contained to a third story bedroom, but the home is currently uninhabitable due to water damage to electrical components. Fiscus adds that the home is repairable.
In the meantime, the American Red Cross is helping the family while they are displaced from their home.
