Some Trumbull County Jail workers get new contract, immediate pay raise

More than a dozen workers in the Trumbull County Jail have a new contract after going years without one.
The Trumbull County Commissioners and Sheriff Mike Wilson agreed to give 15 workers including clerks and janitorial staff a three year contract. Benefits include an immediate four percent raise and retroactive pay.
“For the last two years they haven't had the contractual raise and that’s where some of the retroactive pay came in. We wanted to give them more retroactive pay then they received but it just wasn’t financially feasible to be able to do that,” Sheriff Wilson said.
Wilson said the workers had gone without a new union contract for the past two years after the previous three year contract expired.
The workers will also get another four percent raise in July.
