Mineral Ridge softball ends drought, captures conference title

The Mineral Ridge softball team captured its first conference title in 21 years Monday evening.

The Mineral Ridge softball team captured its first conference title in 21 years Monday evening.

The Lady Rams outlasted Jackson Milton 10-8 to win the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Scarlet Tier.

Mineral Ridge built a 7-0 lead in the fifth inning and held off Jackson Milton's comeback attempt.

Sullivan Sandy and Megan Haynie each had two hits for the Rams.

Mineral Ridge improves to 16-6-1 and 15-1 in conference. They begin tournament play Wednesday against Grand Valley at 5 p.m.
