Columbiana softball player Caitlynn Pleska has been playing the game since a young age.

Her determination and dedication paid off in several ways.

Earlier this week she became the state's all time softball RBI leader with 219 and still counting.

"It feels crazy to believe and sometimes I don't believe it's actually true but the stats are there," said Pleska who's one of six seniors on the team.

She's also heading to Arcadia College in the fall to continue her softball career and having a double major in psychology and criminology.

The senior statistics speak for themselves.  In her career she's batting .699 with 208 hits and 179 runs scored, which is 12th in the state.

"She has amazing instincts on the bases," said head coach Daryl Kurtz. "She gets herself into scoring position and makes really good reads to move up bases and gives herself an opportunity to get knocked in."

Pleska credits her teammates for her success saying every single player gets as much credit as she does.

This group of senior have never lost a league game going 46-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

"That's really special. We're the first team in Columbiana history to go undefeated in the league in four years," said Pleska, "that's really special for us and I'm proud of all the girls ."

Besides being dominant at the plate she's also solid in the circle.

"She's like 25-4 as a pitcher with lots of strikeouts," said Kurtz "but she's known for her hitting."

Columbiana is the fifth seed in the district softball tournament and play next week.

For now they'll rely on Pleska and the other seniors to take them on a ride for however long it goes.

"She puts in a lot of time and it shows," said Kurtz, adding her knowledge of the game is above average for a high school player.
