HVAC malfunction causes smoke to fill Shepherd of the Valley in Beaver Twp.

BEAVER TWP., Ohio - Residents at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman were forced to evacuate from their rooms when a hallway filled with smoke Thursday morning.
Fire crews were called to the senior living center around 7:30 a.m.
Beaver Township Fire Department Chief Larry Sauerwein told 21 News that the smoke filled an area of the assisted living wing on Western Reserve Road.
The residents of the assisted living wing moved to the dining room on the other side of the building while crews assessed the situation.
Chief Sauerwein said an HVAC unit on the roof was the culprit. It malfunctioned and smoke from a burnt belt on the unit went into the building.
No one was injured and all residents were able to go back to their rooms after the area was ventilated.
