The Lakeview softball team lost to Hillsboro, 7-1, in the Division VI State Semifinal Wednesday at Akron Firestone Stadium.

With the game tied at 1 after four innings, Hillsboro drove in three runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. The Indians followed up with a three-run sixth inning.

Hillsboro pitcher Camryn Spruell earned the win pitching seven innings. She gave up four hits, one run and struck out 13.

"They started putting some balls in play and we couldn't catch up to their pitcher, she had a really good game," said Dave Kelm, Lakeview head coach.

Lakeview starter Ava Bacon went five and one-third innings with four strikeouts and four walks.

Isabella Isenberg went one and two-thirds innings in the circle, giving up six runs on five hits.

Lakeview finishes the season with the program's only appearance in the state final four and a 22-5 overall record.

"We've done a lot of stuff this year, we're so proud of what we've done and where we're going with our program and couldn't be more proud of our girls," said Kelm.
