Two people in court today in Boardman for an apparent scam on the elderly.
35-year-old Derek A. Blackburn of Boardman is charged with burglary and theft. In a statement to police Blackburn admitted to pretending to be an exterminator in order to enter elderly people's homes, and then stealing credit card and checks to pay for his oxycontin addiction.
His girlfriend, 60-year-old Glenda G. Williams, is charged with forgery and receiving stolen property after allegedly cashing the stolen checks for Blackburn.
Police say you should never let strangers into your home, and always check with your landlord before allowing a service call.
