Due to the volume drops of reduced customer demand the Delphi Plant in Cortland will now be closing its doors.

Currently there are 118 workers at the plant. Delphi representatives say half of the workers in Cortland will be sent to the Vienna plant, meanwhile the other half will fill positions at other local plants.

Delphi reps expect the consolidation to be completed by the end of the first quarter in 2009. The Cortland plant makes plastic molding injections for connector products.

The plant has been making the product since 2000 and was built in 1981.
