YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Senator Sherrod Brown was at Youngstown State University on Monday promoting new legislation that would make more jobs available to Veterans.
Brown says a bill called the Hiring Heroes Act 2011 would expand job placement assistance for Veterans even before their service ends.
"This is going to get the Department of Labor working with the Department of Defense to identify those soldiers, sailors and Marines before they leave the service to help them with a pathway to a job," Brown said.
Senator Brown says the current unemployment rate for young Veterans is an unacceptable 27-percent.
