BOARDMAN, Ohio - School shootings across the country, and a lockdown recently in a local district, prompted a school safety meeting for parents Wednesday night in Boardman.

Parents, staff, and emergency responders discussed safety procedures at St. Charles School for a host of possible emergencies.

The president of the parochial school's PTA, knowns as Home and School, says communication between parents and school staff is key.

"If something makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up when we're talking about safety, you need to share that with people and we also need to teach our kids to talk to adults about the things that concern them tell adults when they think something might be going wrong," said Jennifer Grey, President of St. Charles Home and School.

Gray says this is especially important because in many cases, the people who have committed the crimes have told people before the tragedies occurred.
