CDB undergoes government budget cut

MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - Even more local government funding is being cut by the state of Ohio, according to Mahoning County Commissioners.
Community Development Block grants total $310,000 this year. That's a 35% cut from last year, according to Commissioner David Ditzler.
Commissioner Ditzler says the state is forcing local government to split the block grant funding that is normally divided up between townships and villages with the cities of Campbell and Struthers this year.
Both cities have less than 15,000 people and in the past have received money through a different fund.
Commissioner Ditzler says it's likely that out of the eight projects proposed by villages and townships, it's likely that they will only be able to fund two of them.
The projects include sewer, sidewalk, and road improvements.
