Testing of the water at Lake Newport in Mill Creek Metroparks began Wednesday and by Thursday afternoon the results were released.

According to the District Board of Health there were low levels of bacteria found in Mill Creek which empties into the lake.

Samples of the lake itself show extremely low levels of bacteria.

The director tells 21 news it's too early in the sampling process to come to any conclusions since this is week one of 12 weeks of sampling. He does say, however, the hot sun from the last week could have killed much of the bacteria in the lake.
